Effective date: August 26, 2026

This policy explains what lifecoveragecalculator.com collects, what it does not, and what you can do about it. It is written in plain language rather than legal boilerplate, because a privacy policy nobody can read protects nobody.

The short version

  • Nothing you type into the calculator or quiz ever leaves your browser. No income figure, debt amount or answer is transmitted to us or stored anywhere.
  • We use Google Analytics to see which pages get read. That involves cookies and your IP address.
  • If you use the contact form, we receive what you put in it.
  • We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we run no advertising.

The calculator and quiz collect nothing

Both tools run entirely in your browser using JavaScript. The arithmetic happens on your own device. Nothing you enter is sent to our server, written to a database, emailed, or retained after you close the tab. If you clear the page or leave, the figures are gone.

This is a deliberate design choice. A needs calculation involves your income, debts and family situation, and there is no good reason for a website to keep that.

What we do collect

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, connected through the Site Kit plugin, to understand which pages people read and how they arrived. It records things like pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, and referring site. It sets cookies in your browser. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy.

We use this only to decide what to write next. We do not use it to build advertising profiles, and we do not run ads.

The contact form

If you submit the contact form we receive the name, email address and message you provide, so that we can reply. Submissions are handled by Jetpack (Automattic) and delivered to us by email. We keep them only as long as needed to deal with your message, and we do not add you to any marketing list.

Hosting, security and images

  • Bluehost hosts the site and keeps standard server logs.
  • Cloudflare sits in front of the site for security and speed, and sets essential cookies to do that.
  • Jetpack’s image service (Automattic) serves our images from its own network, which means it receives your IP address as your browser fetches them.

What we never do

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We do not run advertising or advertising trackers. We do not ask for, want, or knowingly collect Social Security numbers, medical information, or financial account details. Never send those to us through the contact form.

Your choices

  • Cookies. Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies. Blocking analytics cookies does not affect any feature of this site — the calculator and quiz work with cookies switched off entirely.
  • Google Analytics opt-out. Google publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Analytics across all sites.
  • Ask us. You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be deleted, or ask us to stop contacting you. Use the contact form and we will act on it.

If you are a California resident, you have rights under California privacy law regarding access to and deletion of personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Children

This site is intended for adults making decisions about insurance. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the effective date at the top. Material changes will be described rather than slipped in quietly.
